The most common question that people ask about promoting their Webinars is “How long before the Webinar should I start sending out emails to register?”

From what I’ve found, it’s not necessary to start promoting more than 3-5 days before the date of your Webinar. Yes, if you promote it for 2 weeks straight you may have more registrants, but you’ll probably have about the same amount of people actually attend if you just start promoting 3-5 days before the Webinar.

Below is an example of what an email schedule may look like if you’re trying to maximize attendance:

- Email #1 – 3 days before Webinar

- Email #2 – 1 day before Webinar

- Email #3 – day of Webinar morning

- Email #4 – (Only send to those that registered) Reminder email 30 minutes before Webinar starts

You could always shorten this schedule if you don’t want to promote your Webinar so hard, but the schedule outlined above is what will maximize your attendance.

Pre-Recorded Webinar Internet Marketing

In this post I’ll be discussing pre-recording your Internet Marketing Webinar. Many people commonly ask me if they should conduct their Webinar live or pre-record it. Below I have outlined the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Advantages of going live

➡           Live is LIVE!

➡           No AV costs involved

Disadvantages of going live

➡           Tech problems

➡           Poor phone lines not coming in clearly

➡           Poor Internet connection

➡           If you’re not feeling your best you still have to do it

 

Advantages of pre-recording your Webinar

➡           Get your life back!

➡           Operate in a controlled environment

➡           You’re putting your best foot forward

➡           You can edit before broadcast

➡           Easier to modify and re-purpose

Disadvantages of pre-recording your Webinar

➡           If not done right people may know it’s not live

➡           AV cost associated with Webinar playbacks

 

Pre-Recording Your Webinars

Back in 2007-2008, I did (essentially) the same Tele-Seminar every Wednesday night for several months in a row. Eventually I got so bored of doing the same Tele-Seminar that I lost my passion for it.

These days, it’s very rare for me or any of my business partners to do a live Webinar. We almost always pre-record the Webinar, then review and edit if needed, then have our AV guy play it back as if it’s live (while we are out to dinner or spending time with our families).

Note: If you’re using GoToWebinar, you do need an AV guy (or someone who knows what they are doing) in order to play back a pre-recorded Webinar as if it’s live. This is a very technical process and it’s not something that I (or anyone I know except our AV guy) can do.
